Members of the management team represented NBHSW at the recent hearing screening conference held in Cernobbio. The conference was well attended by representatives from hearing screening programmes all over the world.
Michelle Dodd, Audiological Scientist at Glan Clwyd Hospital presented on behalf of NBHSW during the Diagnostic Evaluation session with a talk detailing the measures NBHSW is taking to ensure the quality of audiological assessments.
Dr Sally Minchom, Associate Director of NBHSW also presented a report on behalf of Wales during the International Working Group on Childhood Hearing (IGCH) special session which included reports from 22 Countries. The team had produced a poster in relation to this presentation which was displayed during the poster session on day one.
In addition a poster was produced for the Focus on Families poster area on day one to report on Parental Experiences of the Newborn Hearing screening Programme in Wales giving details of a recent postal questionnaire survey.
Posters were also displayed on day two, firstly in the Program Development and Evaluation section entitled Accuracy of information underpins Quality Management. This poster explained the principles of NBHSW Quality Management and the processes in place to ensure accurate data. The second poster was displayed within the Early Assessment and Intervention area detailing NBHSW’s approach to supporting a standardised approach to language and communication outcomes for early identified children.
