Quality Manual
The CSW quality manuals describing Standard Operating Policies and Procedures (SOPPs) for the three elements of the programme – screening administration, cervical cytology and histopathology and colposcopy, which are published as three separate documents, have been reviewed.
A major revision has been undertaken in consultation with the service and consequently, it has been decided to publish the three manuals as a single document to simplify reference procedures within the Service, as there are a number of common areas between the three manuals.
The user consultation phase for the review of the working draft QA manual has now concluded (July 2008); amendments and corrections will be made to reflect user comments in preparation for the publication of the composite QA manual. In the interim the working draft manual will continue to be available as a PDF document on this website (see link below) and may be used as a policy reference document.
The proposed new format will be adopted, with the document being divided into sections; including common reference sections, and service specific sections relating to the individual areas of practice within cervical screening.
The service sections are designed so that they can be held independently to the main reference manual as a working file, to simplify access to relative procedures and standards on a day to day basis. A request has been made that a quick reference link is established on the website to facilitate access.
Amendments will be considered right up to the date of publication so we would still value any comments on the working draft manual. I would, therefore, be pleased to receive any further comments, amendments or suggestions relating to the document.
The final publication will be available as a PDF on this website and will be regularly reviewed and updated. Nominated reference manual holders will receive hard copies of the document, issued under control.
