About Screening

Information Leaflets - Breast screening for women over 70

This leaflet tells you how women over 70 can ask for a breast screening appointment.

1. Why is it important?

The risk of getting breast cancer increases with age. It is still important for women over age 70 to attend for breast screening. If you are over 70 you will not be automatically invited for breast screening. You are still entitled to an appointment every three years.

2. How can I be screened?

To ask for an appointment or to find out when breast screening is next in your area contact your local breast screening centre.

3. Whatever your age,

please contact your doctor if you notice any unusual changes in your breasts even if you have been screened recently.
